Fun with Brad- the IFGF
Violet and I had a great time visiting with my best friend and Violet's IFGF this weekend. We went to the children's museum in Providence RI. It was so much fun. Then Brad treated me to dinner Thai (my favorite) at a cute restaurant in Cranston. Aside from Violet throwing her rice noodles everywhere. It was great. I was finally able to give him the scarf I had been working on FOREVER! He is wearing in the photos. I am glad he liked it. We always celebrate something when we are together. Brad has a gift with children, I hope he knows that. More to follow of my long birthday celebration!

Staycation
We were supposed to visit some friends this week at the Vineyard. But Violet and Brian have been fighting a cold for a week and our friends' children both had fevers. So we have enjoyed a staycation this week, which I have enjoyed very much. I have been knitting a ton and even learned how to wind my yarn by hand. I also made an attempt to make a stuffed toy. It is supposed to be a block, but it looks more like a ball. What do you think?
The Cuckoo Clock
We bought this Cuckoo Clock on a trip to the Black Forest in Germany in 2003. Brian's Best Friend Brian D. was living there at the time and took us on a great adventure to buy this clock. It had a little difficulty going through customs (they searched it for explosives), but it ended up in a first class seat on the way home. Violet has recently discovered it and loves it!!! She especially loves seeing the people dance. That what got my eye too, when picking it out.

My first Hat!
Well, as many of you know I started knitting when I started working at night. I work two shifts a week. It's not bad at all, but sometime around 4 am for me, you need something to wake you up a little. Many nurses, smoke or drink coffee, I knit and I am loving it. I have come a long way since my first scarf full of holes. I just learned how to make a baby hat. Thank you Gail not only my nursing mentor, but now my knitting mentor for all the help. I am so proud of it that I could bare to part with it, so I will hold onto it for now. I will be making a bunch more thought, they are very quick and easy.
Happy February!
I love February. It's my birthday month and we have Valentine's Day (one of my favorite holidays). It's short and sweet. Brian and I have an official date next weekend. :) I requested the classic flowers and chocolates. It is a classic for a reason right? For Violet, I am going to start a charm bracelet. Every year I will give her a new charm on Valentine's day. Charm bracelets remind me of my mom. I always remember her wearing hers and helping me start mine. She loved jewelry and had great taste. So happy February to all of you. What are you Valentine's Day traditions?
