30 Days of Happiness: Vintage Linen

Vintage linens make me very happy. I found these today while thrifting. I will put one in the shop, but keep the rest. I think they are gorgeous. I couldn't believe they were all crammed into a small box hidden in the corner. That's probably why no one else snatched them up before me. Unexpected finds make me very very Happy!

30 Days of Happiness: Our Nature Table

I had been wanting to set up our nature table somewhere in the house, but just couldn't find the right place. I finally found the perfect spot. This is our first scene for Summer. I am hoping for a long summer since we had a late start. October sounds good. There are lots of beach combing finds here and a lovely poem that I found tucked in a drawer. The yellow silk is one of the first ones I made. I think it came out good. What do you think?

30 Days of Happiness: Supporting the Locals

I am all about supporting local business. Not only because I own one, but because I feel like we receive such a higher quality of service at local places. Chains are all the same, there is no character, no diversity. I hope my little one always appreciates the local scene as much as I do.

30 Days of Happiness: Blowing out candles

Happiness is watching your little one blow out candles for the first time. And then watching her practice days later. We have been celebrating VV's birthday all week long here.

30 Days of Happiness: Sunflowers

This is the time of year when sunflowers make me happy. Today was the perfect weather 77 degrees. Sunny, dry, perfect. Violet and I enjoyed a quiet morning at home. Played in the backyard for a bit and then went on a walk to the park. I love days like today. Some family sunflower trivia: Sunflowers were the first flowers my husband bought me when were dating. I dried them and I think I still have them somewhere. Every year Violet receives the number of Sunflowers she is turning from her Yiayia. I thought that would be a sweet tradition. Hope you get to see some sunflowers before the summer ends.

30 Days of Happiness: Yummy Yarn

What to do when your in a knitting slump? Get yummy yarn!!! I have a favorite knitting shop right down the street that has an amazing selection of yarn. A lot of their yarn was 50% off. So, I purchased a great bulky funky yarn to start knitting some Christmas scarves. I wonder who is going to get one. I think this first one will be for my little one. I love garter stitch. It is so easy and meditative, you can actually enjoy knitting. I think I'll make a bunch of these.

They are quick and easy and that makes me very HAPPY!

30 Days of Happiness: Evenings at the Beach

I am joining Erin and some of her blogging friends in this project. Should be fun and interesting to see where this goes.

My first entry is Evenings at the Beach. We are so fortunate to live so close to the beach. Under 20 min and we are there. We are also lucky to have good friends with homes across the street from the beach.

I have dreamed of owning a little "shack" near the ocean. It doesn't have to be oceanfront. I just want to be able to feel the sea breeze and smell the ocean. I know it will happen someday. Until then, we will take our evening drives, when the sun has gone down and head up to our favorite beaches. I love to beachcomb and look for treasures. Violet loves to throw sand. Brian loves to stack rocks. Here is to lovely evenings at the beach! They make us very happy!

More Buddah Pics!

Here are more photos:

Happy Birthday Violet!

My baby is 2 today. What a year it has been. She has changed so much since last year. She has little curls, she loves to sing.
( Twinkle Twinkle, If Your Happy and You Know It, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Head Shoulders Knee and Toes and more recently Tomorrow from Annie) She has become a little independent person. And I love her more and more each day. We had her Buddah party yesterday. The theme came from her and her love of our buddah statue we have in the garden. It was supposed to be a Buddah Beach party. But they closed the beaches yesterday due to the aftermath of the hurricane. It was still a very fun time! We ended up at the beach though, I will post a separate post on that.

Children's Parade

Today Violet participated in the annual Hampton Beach children's parade with some friends. The kids were so cute and the costumes were great. Her friend Orange and Ocean won "Most Orignial" for their Peanut Butter and Jelly Fish Costume. I am signing off for the weekend. We have a busy birthday weekend ahead. Enjoy!

9th Wedding Anniversary

Wow, I can't believe it has been 9 years. This year our traditional wedding gift is Pottery. After being inspire by our friend Kelly, we decided that our gift would be pottery lessons. Our first creations arrived the other day in the mail from the lesson we had with our friend. They came out beautifully. The pieces are so different. They represent us quite well. My piece was hand built. More free. Brian's was thrown on the wheel. More defined and thought out. Thanks again Kelly for the lesson. Here's to many more years and more pottery Brian!

Generations of Women

This post is for my mother in law. Please leave a comment!

In June we went for a visit to NJ where Violet's Great Grandmother was visiting. We spent an afternoon with her and got these shots. I think these would be great Christmas presents. What do you think?

Sewing Bug

I have been sewing a lot lately and recently made these for VV and her little friends. Homemade bean bags. I see more the future. I want to make her a board with holes to toss them in as well, but Brian may have to help me with that one. Happy Monday!

Portland-Meeting Soulemama

Today we went up to Portland to go to the book release party of Soulemama. Her latest book Handmade Home has great ideas for for making projects out of old materials for your home. She is such a great inspiration and it was nice to be able to meet her in person. She has a huge following in the blogging world and has made a full time career out of it.
After the signing, we found a great Thai place and then walked around the city. It was such a beautiful night.

Have a great weekend!
