Wash Wednesday

We have a had two super hot days here in the Northeast and I could not possible bare to go outside with the laundry this week. I am 8 months pregnant after all. I did save energy by hanging the towels on the indoor line. I use this rack all Winter Long. I would like to find a vintage one antiquing this summer because I could definitely use another. If you haven't heard of Gardenmama's Wash Wednesday go HERE to check it out. My photo from last week was featured!

Our Weekend

What fabulous weekend weather we had! We went to my adorable niece's first recital. I loved that I could make her a bouquet from our garden. My goal of having something always in bloom in the garden is finally becoming a reality. On Sunday we went to the town's annual Sheep Shearing Festival. What a great event! I hope to have a booth their next year for my business and my mother's group. It's great to see the event getting bigger and bigger every year!

Getting Ready for Babe Day 2

The take home outfit is finally complete. A natural colored organic onesie will be added. I am still a very basic knitter. These were my first booties and sweater. The patterns came from the book Cherished Knits for Cherished Babies by Erika Knight. If I can knit these, anyone can. The yarn is a light weight cotton purchased from a cute knit shop I visited in Charleston SC last summer. The sweater is wrapped closed with a piece of vintage lace. I am terrible at hand sewing, so I machined sewed it on. What do you think? oh and we have a thing for heart shaped rocks around here, that was found during this pregnancy up in Wells, ME where our Airstream will at some point reside. I am going to use it as a door stop in the new babies room.

Getting Ready for Babe Day 1

I still have so much to do before the arrival of our newest babe. My energy is dwindling so I thought if I blogged about it, I would get more accomplished. I made some new burp cloths last night out of vintage sheets and chenille. What do you think? We aren't sure if it's a boy or girl, so I thought I would make some blue and pinks. I just love them! Happy Monday!

Spring Nature Table

Here is glimpse of our Spring Nature table. Lilacs freshly picked from the garden. Art work cards from our local Waldorf School. Wooden bunny and easter surprise. Felted eggs that I made. I just love this Waldorf Idea and Violet does too.

Gardenmama Wash Wednesday Photo Challenge

I love clotheslines. It makes doing laundry so much more enjoyable. Last year Brian made me the perfect clothesline for our backyard. Right now part of it is down due to the Airstream Renovation going on, but it will be back up soon. Gardenmama is hosting a photo challenge calling it Wash Wednesday. Go here to check it out. The pictures I have attached are some photos I took on the that my family is from in Chios Greece. I really need to print them out and hang them up. Hope you all join in on the challenge!

Happy Mother's Day!

This is one the first photos of me as a new mom. Being a mother is hard work, but the most rewarding thing ever. There is nothing like it. I know it's not for everyone, but it's everything for me. Happy Mother's Day!

Homemade Baby Wipes

I recently started making my own baby wipes. I don't know why I hadn't done it sooner. It is so easy to do and it's one less thing you have to buy. I have always used both cloth and regular diapers on VV, but I am really hoping to do more cloth with the new babe. Making homemade wipes are so much better for you baby, I am sure you already knew that. I never really looked at the label of regular wipes, but when you can pronounce half the words on there. It can't be good.

RECIPE:

1 Roll of 2 ply paper towels.
Organic baby wash of your choice
Olive oil or other oil of your choice
Water

The hardest part is cutting the roll of paper towels in half. Be sure to use a sharp flat knife. After the paper towels are cut. Rip them off and fill your wipes container. You can use any kind of container you would like for your wipes. I found reusing some old wipes containers was the easiest option for me. One roll should fill 2 wipes containers.

In a large measuring cup add 1 part baby wash to 1 part oil to 1 part water. Pour over your towels. Be sure not to oversaturate. And there you have it. Homemade wipes!!!! Easy!

To take it one step further and to make more earth friendly. You can put the wipes solution in a spray bottle, you can use little baby wash cloths and then just toss them in the wash.
