Easter 2012

Sorry this post comes a little late. This year we celebrated both Easters with the girls. The Greek Orthodox Easter is always a little later. The traditions of the church during Easter are my favorite. I have many special memories of going to church with my mom during that time especially. Someday, when the girls are a bit older I will share those traditions with them. Next year, less eggs filled with candy. The girls got lots of useful things such as playdough, wooden figures, sunglasses and they each got an adorable vintage suitcase, which will come in handy when we travel.  Another tip for next year, if it's warm like it was this year, we need to place the eggs right before the egg hunt. It got just a tad messy. Thank you Easter Bunny!

Waldorf Wednesday

I started a local Waldorf meet up group last summer to gather a small local community of like minded families. It has been working out so wonderful. And I have met so many great families. Last week we gathered at my home and make these beautiful play silks. They are quite simple to make. You just need a lot of pots and extra hands. One of my friends figured out how to make the long rainbow that I have been wanting for the last couple of years. The kids played out in the yard with the hens and bunny. The dads made yarn wrapped wands while that chatted. It was such a fun day! My girls wanted to sleep in their capes that night. Thanks friends!

Welcome Theodore (Twinkle)

We adopted a beautiful English Angora this weekend. His name is Theodore, but we will call him Twinkle as a nickname. He is so beautiful and is going to make a great addition to our Urban Farm. Do any of you have one of these lovely creatures? I would love some helpful tips. Please do share!

Waldorf Wednesday

This week our group met to start seeds. The mamas did most of the work, while the kids enjoyed outdoor play. Spring has come early this year! My two favorite trees are already blooming, the Forsythia is in full bloom and there are lots of daffodils. Our pea plants will be the first in the ground. Most of the seed I started today are cool weather crops. Kale, lettuce, beans, carrots. What are you dreaming of planting in your garden these days?
